4.6 from 118 reviews

Crispy and spicy Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower is a perfect appetizer or snack that combines tender cauliflower florets tossed in a flavorful buffalo sauce and cooked to perfection in the air fryer. Served with a creamy homemade blue cheese dressing, this dish is a healthier alternative to classic buffalo wings without compromising on taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower

  • 1 head of cauliflower (about 1 1/2 lb.)
  • 3 Tbsp. Frank’s RedHot Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch

Blue Cheese Dressing

  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (2 oz.)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 Tbsp. buttermilk
  • 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower: Break the head of cauliflower into evenly sized florets to ensure even cooking. In a large mixing bowl, combine Frank’s RedHot Sauce, melted butter, kosher salt, and garlic powder. Add cauliflower florets to the bowl and toss thoroughly to coat each piece with the sauce mixture. Sprinkle cornstarch over the coated cauliflower and toss again to evenly coat; this will help achieve a crispy texture when air fried.
  2. Air Fry the Cauliflower: Place the coated cauliflower in the air fryer basket using tongs, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding which can prevent crispiness. Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and cook for about 15 minutes, shaking or tossing the florets halfway through cooking to promote even browning. The cauliflower should develop browned spots and a crispy exterior.
  3. Make the Blue Cheese Dressing: In a small bowl, combine crumbled blue cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, and mayonnaise. Stir well to blend all ingredients. Season the dressing with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Adjust consistency with extra buttermilk if desired.
  4. Serve: Plate the crispy buffalo cauliflower and serve immediately with the homemade blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket and toss florets halfway through cooking.
  • Adjust the hot sauce quantity to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Blue cheese dressing can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
  • To keep cauliflower warm while cooking in batches, place cooked pieces on a baking sheet in a warm oven at 200°F (93°C).
  • This recipe is a great vegetarian alternative to traditional buffalo wings.
