Instructions

  1. Toast the Bread: Working in batches if necessary, arrange the whole wheat bread slices in a single layer in the air-fryer basket. Cook at 350°F, flipping halfway through, until the bread is light golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer the toast to plates.
  2. Prepare the Avocado Smash: Scoop the flesh of the avocado into a medium bowl. Add the fresh lemon juice, chopped basil, and a pinch of kosher salt. Mash together with a fork until the mixture is combined but still chunky. Adjust seasoning with additional salt if desired.
