Popcorn
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels (about 10 cups popped)
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
Chocolate Drizzle
- Pop the Popcorn: If using an air popper, pop the kernels according to the manufacturer’s instructions for light, fluffy popcorn. Alternatively, heat a large nonstick pot over medium heat and add the kernels. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and shake occasionally as the kernels begin to pop. Continue shaking until the popping slows to about 5 seconds between pops. Remove from heat and pour the popcorn onto a rimmed baking sheet to cool slightly.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30 second intervals, stirring well between each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Drizzle the Chocolate: Transfer the melted chocolate into a Ziploc bag or disposable piping bag. Snip a small corner off the bag and evenly drizzle the chocolate over the popcorn scattered on the baking sheet. Sprinkle the kosher salt over the top immediately.
- Set the Chocolate: Place the popcorn in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden and set completely.
- Serve and Store: Once set, break the popcorn into clusters for easy snacking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Notes
- If you prefer, substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark or milk chocolate chips to adjust sweetness.
- Be sure to shake the pot constantly when popping on the stovetop to prevent burning.
- Use kosher or sea salt for the best texture and flavor contrast with the sweet chocolate.
- Chocolate can also be melted using a double boiler if preferred over the microwave.
