These Cinnamon Puff Pastry Twists are a delightful sweet treat that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Flaky puff pastry filled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture, twisted, and baked until golden brown, these twists are a delicious indulgence.

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 rectangular sheet puff pastry (thawed but cold, 375g/13¼oz)

Cinnamon Sugar Filling:

  • 42g butter, melted (1 ½oz / 3 tablespoons)
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Egg Wash:

  • 1 egg yolk, whisked with a dash of milk or water

Cinnamon Sugar Dusting:

  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Filling: Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Fill Pastry: Spread cinnamon sugar mixture over half of the puff pastry sheet.
  4. Fold and Seal: Fold pastry over the filling and seal the edge with a fork.
  5. Cut and Twist: Cut pastry into strips, twist, and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Chill: Chill twists in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan forced)/400F.
  8. Brush with Egg Wash: Brush twists with egg wash.
  9. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Dust with Cinnamon Sugar: Toss twists in cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

  • If the cinnamon sugar filling firms up, microwave for 15-20 seconds to soften.
  • To cut even strips, halve the pastry, then cut into 16 strips.
