This creamy and comforting steel cut oats recipe is perfectly made in the Instant Pot for a quick and effortless breakfast. Combining steel cut oats, water, milk, cinnamon, and maple syrup, it delivers a warm, hearty start to your day with minimal hands-on time.

Ingredients

Scale

Oats Base

  • 2 cups steel cut oats
  • 2 & 2/3 cups water
  • 2 cups milk

Flavorings

  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 34 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients: Add the steel cut oats, water, milk, ground cinnamon, salt, and maple syrup into the Instant Pot. Give all the ingredients a quick stir to combine them evenly.
  2. Pressure Cook: Close the Instant Pot lid securely and set the valve to sealing. Select the pressure cook function on high pressure and set the timer for 4 minutes.
  3. Natural Pressure Release: Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes once cooking is complete. After this, carefully release any remaining pressure manually by turning the valve to venting.
  4. Final Stir and Serve: Open the lid, and stir the oats thoroughly to combine. If you prefer creamier oats, add extra milk at this stage. Serve hot topped with your favorite fruit, nuts, or an additional drizzle of maple syrup for extra sweetness.

Notes

  • For creamier oats, increase the milk ratio or add milk after cooking.
  • Use water or any milk alternative for a dairy-free version.
  • Customize the toppings with fresh berries, chopped nuts, or seeds for added texture and nutrition.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
