Crispy Cinnamon Sugar Biscuit Bites are a delightful treat made from refrigerated biscuit dough, baked until lightly golden and then coated with melted butter and a cinnamon sugar mixture. Finished under the broiler for a caramelized, crispy exterior, these bite-sized snacks are perfect for a sweet breakfast nibble or an irresistible dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuit Bites

  • 20 ounces refrigerated canned biscuits (1 tube, 567 grams)

Coating

  • ½ cup salted butter, melted (113 grams, 1 stick)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (18 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  2. Cut Biscuits: Cut each biscuit into quarters and arrange them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet to allow even baking and space for expansion.
  3. Bake Biscuits: Bake the biscuit quarters for 7-10 minutes or until they are just cooked through. The bites should remain pale in color without browning too much.
  4. Melt Butter and Mix Sugar: While the biscuits bake, melt the salted butter in a small bowl. In another small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon evenly to create the cinnamon sugar coating.
  5. Cool Biscuits: Remove the baked biscuit bites from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet until they are cool to the touch, approximately 5 minutes. Keep the oven rack in the middle position and turn on the broiler.
  6. Coat Biscuit Bites: Dip each cooled biscuit quarter first into the melted butter, ensuring it’s fully coated, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly covered. Return the coated bites back to the baking sheet.
  7. Broil Biscuit Bites: Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler for about 1-2 minutes to caramelize the cinnamon sugar. Watch closely, as the sugar can burn quickly.
  8. Cool and Serve: Transfer the broiled biscuit bites to a cooling rack and let them cool for about 30 seconds. Then, arrange on a serving plate and enjoy immediately while still crispy.

Notes

  • Watch the broiler closely during caramelization to prevent burning of the sugar coating.
  • Use fresh refrigerated biscuit dough for the best texture and flavor.
  • These biscuit bites are best served immediately for maximum crispiness.
  • Substitute unsalted butter and add a pinch of salt if preferred.
  • To make it vegan, use a dairy-free butter alternative and check the biscuit dough ingredients accordingly.
