Ingredients
- 6 oz / 170 g white chocolate chips
- 1 tsp coconut oil (or shortening)
- 3 drops lavender candy oil
- a few drops purple food coloring (oil-based)
- Melt Chocolate Chips: Place white chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted. Alternatively, use a double boiler method by placing the bowl over simmering water and stirring until melted. Remove from heat.
- Add Lavender Oil and Colorant: Stir in 3 drops of lavender candy oil along with a few drops of purple oil-based food coloring into the melted chocolate.
- Mix Well: Gently stir the mixture until the lavender oil and food coloring are evenly incorporated and no streaks remain.
- Transfer into Pastry Bag: Pour the chocolate mixture into a disposable piping bag and snip off the tip to create a small opening for piping.
- Pipe Chocolate Chips: Line a small cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper. Pipe small dots resembling chocolate chips onto the sheet until all the mixture is used.
- Freeze Chocolate Chips: Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the chocolate chips are fully hardened.
- Release Chocolate Chips: Carefully peel the chocolate chips off the paper by bending the wax/parchment paper until chips fall off. Transfer the chips to an airtight container for storage.
Notes
- Use oil-based food coloring to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
- If you prefer, substitute shortening for coconut oil to melt the chocolate.
- Store finished chocolate chips in an airtight container in the freezer to maintain freshness and shape.
- These chips add a lovely floral flavor, perfect for baked goods or as a garnish on desserts.
- Be mindful not to overheat the chocolate to avoid burning.
