These adorable Jack O’ Lantern Brownies are a fun and festive Halloween treat that your whole family will love. Rich, fudgy brownies topped with orange candy coating and decorated to look like spooky jack-o-lanterns, they are perfect for Halloween parties or as a special homemade treat.

Brownies:

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter (melted and cooled slightly)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks

Decoration:

  • 1 (12 oz) package orange candy melts
  • 9 large marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8-inch square pan.
  2. Prepare brownie batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Fold in dry ingredients and chocolate chunks, then spread batter into prepared pan.
  3. Bake and cool brownies: Bake for 30 minutes, then cool completely and slice into squares.
  4. Prepare marshmallows: Melt orange candy melts and dip marshmallows to coat. Place coated marshmallows on brownies.
  5. Add chocolate chip stems: Quickly top each marshmallow with a chocolate chip to resemble a pumpkin stem.
  6. Decorate faces: Melt remaining chocolate chips and pipe jack-o-lantern faces onto the marshmallows. Let harden.
  7. Store and enjoy: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
