Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Honey (Heaping spoon or 100g / 3.5 oz)
- 3 tbsp Peanut butter (Heaping spoon or 100g / 3.5 oz)
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 pinch Crystal salt flakes (optional)
- Boil the honey: Bring honey to a boil in a medium non-stick saucepan over high heat. Continue boiling until the honey reaches 120℃ (248℉) as measured by a candy thermometer, ensuring the proper candy stage is achieved.
- Add peanut butter and vanilla: Remove the saucepan from heat. Immediately add the peanut butter and vanilla extract (if using). Stir vigorously using a silicone spatula until the mixture is well combined and smooth. At this stage, you may add extra nuts if desired.
- Pour the mixture: Transfer the warm mixture into a small plastic food container. Evenly sprinkle crystal salt flakes on top if using, then cover with a lid.
- Cool and set: Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature briefly, then place the container in the refrigerator. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours to let the candy set firmly.
- Cut and serve: Once fully chilled and set, remove the candy from the container and cut into pieces of preferred size. For thinner candy, spread the mixture on parchment paper before chilling, then store in an airtight container after setting.
Notes
- Use a candy thermometer to ensure the honey reaches the correct temperature for setting.
- Adding vanilla extract is optional but enhances flavor depth.
- Crystal salt flakes provide a nice contrast to the sweetness but can be omitted if desired.
- You can incorporate chopped nuts for added texture.
- Store candy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for best freshness.
- Be cautious when handling hot honey to avoid burns.
