Ingredients
- 3 cups oats
- 4 tbsp maple syrup
- ¾ cup natural peanut butter
- ½ cup jam (your choice of flavor)
- Prepare the container: Line an 18cm (7 inch) square silicone cake pan or metal tin with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make it easier to remove the bars.
- Mix oat base: In a large bowl, combine the oats, maple syrup, and natural peanut butter until well mixed. If the mixture feels too dry or crumbly when pressed, add a bit more peanut butter and maple syrup to improve binding.
- First oat layer: Spoon just under half of the oat mixture into the prepared container. Use your hands to press the mixture firmly and evenly to cover the base of the container.
- Add jam layer: Spread a layer of your chosen jam evenly over the pressed oat mixture to create the jelly layer.
- Second oat layer: Spoon the remaining oat mixture on top of the jam layer, making sure to cover it completely. Begin pressing gently to avoid mixing the layers. Once covered, press down firmly with the palms of your hands to compress the bars.
- Chill to set: Place the container in the fridge and allow the bars to set for at least one hour or until firm enough to cut.
- Cut and serve: Remove from the fridge and slice into 16 bars. Enjoy as a nutritious snack or breakfast option.
Notes
- If the peanut butter you use is thicker or drier, adjust by adding a little extra maple syrup to help bind the mixture.
- Feel free to choose any jam flavor, such as strawberry, raspberry, or blueberry, to customize your bars.
- Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For added texture, you can mix in some chopped nuts or seeds into the oat mixture before pressing.
