A large white oval plate filled with about five neat layers of round, golden crackers topped with spots of black pepper and other seasoning, showing a crispy texture, sits in the center on a woven placemat over a white marbled surface. To the left and right above the plate, two white bowls hold several glazed chicken wings with a shiny, sticky brown sauce and sprinkled sesame seeds, each with a handful of five to six wings stacked casually. A clear glass cup filled with small orange basketball-shaped objects is set on a red and white striped napkin near the center top. Around the edges, six bright orange soda cans and red pom-poms add vibrant color to the scene, which is shot from above with even natural light. Photo taken with an iphone --ar 4:5 --v 7

  • ½ lb thinly sliced deli ham
  • ⅓ lb thinly sliced Swiss cheese
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds

  4. Step 4: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl, about 45 seconds. Whisk in the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and salt until combined.
  5. Step 5: Evenly pour the butter mixture over the mini sandwiches in both pans. Sprinkle poppy seeds and dried onion flakes over the top.
  6. Step 6: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the cheese melts and the tops of the crackers turn lightly golden brown.
  7. Step 7: Transfer the sandwiches to a serving platter and serve warm.

Tips & Variations

  • Use smoked ham or turkey for a different flavor profile.
  • Substitute sharp cheddar cheese for Swiss if preferred.
  • For extra crunch, sprinkle the tops with sesame seeds instead of poppy seeds.
  • Make sure to serve these warm; reheating briefly in the oven restores crispiness.

Storage

Store leftover sandwiches in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for about 5 minutes to bring back the melted cheese and crispy crackers. Avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.

How to Serve

The image shows multiple small sandwich snacks arranged on a gray baking tray. Each sandwich has two round golden-brown crackers with a scalloped edge and small holes on top, sprinkled with black poppy seeds and tiny bits of crushed nuts. Between the crackers, there is a layer of melted white cheese and a layer of pink ham, both peeking out slightly from the sides. The cheese is melted and soft, while the ham looks thin and cooked. The tray has some shiny spots suggesting it was hot or greased. The background visible at the side is a white marbled texture. photo taken with an iphone --ar 4:5 --v 7
