Shrimp & Crab Garlic Bombs are flavorful bite-sized seafood balls made with finely chopped shrimp, lump crab meat, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. They are seasoned with smoked paprika and herbs, then pan-fried until golden and crispy, making them a perfect appetizer or party snack served with fresh lemon wedges.

Ingredients

Scale

Seafood Mixture

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat

Binding & Seasoning

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For Cooking & Serving

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix the Seafood and Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, lump crab meat, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, chopped parsley, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined and form a sticky mixture.
  2. Shape the Bombs: Using your hands, shape the mixture into small, bite-sized balls approximately 1.5 inches in diameter, making sure they are tightly packed so they hold together during cooking.
  3. Heat the Oil: Pour the olive oil into a large skillet and heat it over medium heat until shimmering but not smoking. This will ensure even frying and a crisp exterior.
  4. Fry the Garlic Bombs: Carefully place the shrimp and crab balls into the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan to allow even cooking. Fry each side for about 3 to 4 minutes until the bombs are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cooked bombs to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil and keep them crispy.
  6. Serve: Serve the garlic bombs warm, garnished with fresh lemon wedges on the side so diners can squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top for a bright, zesty finish.

Notes

  • Make sure to chop the shrimp finely to help the mixture stick together better.
  • Using fresh crab meat offers the best flavor and texture, but canned crab can be used in a pinch.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the pan during frying to achieve an even golden crust.
  • If you prefer, these can be baked at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through for a healthier option.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture; these are best enjoyed hot and fresh.
