Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups brown rice flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water (plus extra if needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375° F (190° C). Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking and set aside.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In the bowl of a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, mix together the brown rice flour, ground cinnamon, egg, honey, and water until the dough begins to come together. If the dough feels too crumbly, add additional water one tablespoon at a time until it reaches a moist but workable consistency.
  3. Shape Treats: Scoop about one tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball roughly 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on the prepared cookie sheet, then gently flatten each with the palm of your hand until about 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Bake: Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake the treats for 18 to 20 minutes or until they turn golden brown around the edges.
  5. Cool & Store: Remove the treats from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Brown rice flour is an excellent gluten-free alternative safe for dogs.
  • The addition of cinnamon not only adds flavor but also brings some health benefits in moderate amounts for dogs.
  • Honey provides natural sweetness and can be good for a dog’s immune system but use sparingly.
  • Adjust water as needed to form a pliable dough without being sticky.
  • Make sure treats cool completely before storing to prevent moisture buildup and spoilage.
  • Consult your veterinarian if your dog has food allergies or special dietary needs before introducing new treats.
