Fruit and Vegetables
- 1 cup chopped granny smith apple
- 1 cup chopped sweet apple (fuji, cosmic crisp, red delicious or ambrosia)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup halved green seedless grapes
- 1 cup halved red seedless grapes
Nuts
- 1 cup toasted and chopped walnuts
Dressing
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon strained honey
- Prepare Apples: Add the chopped granny smith and sweet apples to a large bowl. Drizzle the lemon juice over the apples and stir well to ensure all the apple pieces are coated, preventing browning and adding a fresh zing.
- Add Other Salad Ingredients: To the bowl with apples, add the diced celery, halved green and red seedless grapes, and the toasted chopped walnuts. Stir gently to combine all these fresh ingredients evenly.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, mayonnaise, and honey until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated, creating a creamy and slightly sweet dressing.
- Combine and Chill: Pour the dressing over the combined salad ingredients. Stir gently to coat everything thoroughly with the dressing. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and the salad to chill before serving.
Notes
- To toast walnuts, heat them in a dry skillet on medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Using lemon juice on apples helps prevent browning and adds a slight tang.
- For a lighter version, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
- This salad is best served chilled to keep it refreshing and crisp.
- Walnuts can be replaced with pecans if preferred.
