S’mores Banana Boats
- 4 ripe bananas, unpeeled
- 4 tbsp. mini marshmallows, divided
- 4 tbsp. semisweet chocolate chips, divided
- 4 tbsp. graham cracker crumbs
Banana Split Boats
- 4 ripe bananas, unpeeled
- 2 large strawberries, finely chopped, divided
- 4 tbsp. semisweet chocolate chips, divided
- 4 tbsp. toasted walnuts, divided
- Whipped cream, for serving
- Maraschino cherries, for serving
Bananas Foster Boats
- 4 ripe bananas, unpeeled
- 1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans
- 6 tbsp. dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- Prepare Foil and Bananas: Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut out four 14″ x 12″ rectangles of foil. Using a paring knife, make a long slit lengthwise in each banana without cutting through the skin on the opposite side.
- S’mores Filling: Place each banana on a foil sheet. Fill the slit with 1 tbsp. mini marshmallows and 1 tbsp. semisweet chocolate chips. Crimp foil around each banana to seal with the seam facing up. Transfer the wrapped bananas onto a baking sheet.
- Bake S’mores Boats: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the chocolate melts. Then, turn on the broiler and carefully unwrap the foil. Broil the bananas for 30 to 60 seconds until lightly browned, watching closely. Remove from oven and sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
- Banana Split Filling: Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare foil rectangles as before. Place each banana on foil and fill with one-quarter of the chopped strawberries, 1 tbsp. chocolate chips, and 1 tbsp. toasted walnuts. Seal foil and place wrapped bananas on a baking sheet.
- Bake Banana Split Boats: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until bananas soften and filling warms through. Unwrap and top each boat with whipped cream and maraschino cherries before serving.
- Bananas Foster Sauce Preparation: Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare foil rectangles. In a heatproof bowl, microwave pecans, brown sugar, and dark rum in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until bubbling and thickened (about 2 minutes).
- Bananas Foster Filling: Place each banana on foil and fill with one-quarter of the pecan rum mixture. Seal foil and transfer wrapped bananas to a baking sheet.
- Bake Bananas Foster Boats: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the bananas soften and the filling warms through. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure bananas are ripe but still firm so they hold shape while baking.
- Use caution when broiling; watch bananas closely to avoid burning.
- For an alcohol-free version of Bananas Foster, substitute rum with orange juice or omit it entirely.
- Foil packets can be prepared in advance and refrigerated before baking.
- Customize toppings to personal preference, such as adding nuts, different fruits, or alternative chocolates.
