Bread
- 4 ounces (1/4 loaf) ciabatta bread, torn into bite-sized pieces
Salad
- 3 medium heirloom tomatoes, sliced about 1/4-inch thick
- 1 pint heirloom cherry tomatoes, halved
- 8 ounces (2 balls) burrata cheese, at room temperature
- 20 fresh basil leaves, torn
Dressing
- 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (plus more for ciabatta bread)
- 2 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Toast bread: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Drizzle olive oil over the torn ciabatta pieces, spread them out evenly on a baking sheet, and toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
- Arrange salad: On a serving plate, spread out the sliced heirloom tomatoes and halved cherry tomatoes evenly. Gently tear the burrata cheese into pieces and place them evenly on top of the tomatoes.
- Dress salad: In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a pinch of salt, and a dash of freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle this dressing over the tomatoes and burrata cheese.
- Garnish: Scatter the torn fresh basil leaves on top of the salad for a fragrant, herbal finish.
- Serve: Present the toasted ciabatta bread on the side or place pieces atop the salad, allowing the bread to soak up the flavorful dressing and juices from the tomatoes.
Notes
- Use ripe heirloom tomatoes for the best flavor and vibrant colors.
- Burrata is best served at room temperature to fully appreciate its creamy texture.
- For a sharper flavor, add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on the burrata before serving.
- To make the toast even more aromatic, rub a garlic clove lightly over the toasted bread.
- Can be served as a light lunch, appetizer, or side dish with grilled meats or seafood.
