  • flaky sea salt
  • butter or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 400°F / 200°C degrees.
  2. Prepare Potatoes: Scrub the potatoes, prick them all over with a fork, and sprinkle generously with sea salt.
  3. Bake: Bake the potatoes until tender throughout, approximately 1 hour for large potatoes.
  4. Prepare Toppings: While the potatoes are baking, prepare any toppings you’re considering.
  5. Check Doneness: Test potato doneness by sliding a sharp knife into it; when done, the knife should feel little resistance.
  6. Finish: Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, slice a cross into the top of each potato, push in on the ends, and load up with toppings starting with butter or olive oil.
