Deliciously sweet and tender glazed sweet potatoes baked to perfection with a buttery maple syrup glaze, making a perfect side dish for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Sweet Potatoes

  • 4 medium sweet potatoes (about 3 pounds), peeled and sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar or light brown sugar, packed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the sweet potatoes.
  2. Season potatoes: Place the peeled and sliced sweet potatoes into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and toss them to coat evenly.
  3. Prepare glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the cubed butter. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the pure maple syrup and the coconut sugar or light brown sugar thoroughly to combine.
  4. Pour glaze: Evenly pour the prepared glaze over the sweet potatoes in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces are coated.
  5. Bake: Bake the sweet potatoes uncovered in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Stir the potatoes once halfway through baking to promote even cooking and glaze distribution. Bake until the sweet potatoes are tender and the glaze is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Remove the baking dish from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes to allow the glaze to set slightly. Serve the glazed sweet potatoes warm as a flavorful side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the glaze before pouring over the potatoes.
  • You can substitute coconut sugar with light brown sugar depending on your taste preference.
  • Use unsalted butter to control the saltiness of the dish perfectly.
  • Ensure sweet potatoes are sliced evenly for uniform cooking.
  • This recipe pairs well with roasted meats and holiday meals.
